The Cell Culture Platform Department is a global business unit responsible for the development of cell culture platforms including media and bioprocess technologies for both fed-batch and perfusion from early and late-stage biologics projects, delivering all early phase projects, feasibility evaluation of applying Sanofi cell culture platform for all external project conversion, metabolic profiling, and cell culture pathway analysis for medium and bioprocess development.
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join the Cell Culture Platform team where you will develop and optimize fed-batch and perfusion based upstream cell culture and bioreactor processes. Working closely with other upstream scientists and associates, this lab-based role has an opportunity to deliver technical solutions for the next generation cell culture processes to meet industry demands.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Design, plan, and execute experiments in shake flasks, high throughput bioreactor systems (ambr15/ ambr250) and bench scale bioreactors to optimize upstream cell culture process performance for manufacturing monoclonal antibodies and novel biopharmaceuticals
Screen and evaluate manufacturing cell lines to support process development for early phase toxicological studies and first in human cGMP manufacturing
Generate bioreactor material to support the progression of pipeline assets
Develop and improve platform cell culture media and nutrient feeds to help contribute to evolution of Sanofi’s cell culture manufacturing platforms
Independently conduct experiments, make detailed observations, analyse, and interpret experimental results while exercising appropriate technical discretion
Prepare technical reports, experimental protocols, and technical summaries for presentation as well as participate in the technology transfer of processes into large scale manufacturing facilities
Author and contribute to operational documents, templates, and reports within the Cell Culture Platform team
Perform literature search and cell culture data analysis efficiently, present novel cell culture findings in external conferences, and write peer reviewed publications
Some weekend working may be required for this role

Solid understanding of mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques
Highly organised, able to prioritise work, work well under pressure and meet deadlines
High attention to detail, ability to multitask & good communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
Hands-on experience of bioreactor control systems and operations for mammalian cell culture process development
Experience with scale-down bioreactor systems such as ambr15 and ambr250
Knowledge of biochemistry and/or biochemical pathways
Experience in bioreactor harvest and primary recovery techniques, ideally with mammalian cell culture
Knowledge of bioreactor process scale-up and technology transfer
