Position Overview
The Thought Leader Liaison, US Rare Disease is a field-based, non-sales focused position, working closely with Rare Disease U.S Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)/practices to ensure cross-functional commercial resources are made available, as appropriate. The primary areas of focus, but not limited to, for a Rare Disease TLL are, KOL/practice engagement, executive encounter management, SWARM Leadership, and liaising with marketing. All TLL interactions are within label, and consistent with commercial compliance, legal and regulatory guidelines.
A TLL will work closely, and within approved SOPs, with the other field professionals, including but not limited to RBDs (Regional Business Director), Therapeutic Area Specialists (TAS), Patient Education Liaisons (PEL) in addition to home office based colleagues. The behaviors that are critical for success are servant leadership, collaboration, communication, planning, relationship building, and the ability to execute tactical initiatives and provide timely feedback. There will be three levels of position for Career Development; Manager, Senior and Executive. Each level defined by experience in role, expanding leadership across the Business Unit, accomplishments, and alignment with cultural behaviors. TLLs will report to the (Sr.) Director, National TLL Head, and US Rare Disease (SDTLL).
Job Responsibilities
The TLL job responsibilities are focused primarily on, but not limited to:
KOL Engagement
TLLs will be assigned top KOL/practices xLSD and expected to work collaboratively with other TLL sub specialty experts e.g. Pompe, Gaucher, Fabry
The TLL orchestrate resources with top KOLs/practices, helping to orchestrate the alignment of cross functional account plans & teams
Executing unique, on label, and approved KOL programming; such as disease state and product programming, as directed by leadership e.g. CJR’s
Build a detailed understanding of the defined accounts, networks, understand referral patterns and communicate information back to HQ.
Conduct substantial on-label conversations in and outside the office setting (including over a modest meal) focused on topics; such as product, disease state, and company
Identify, cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with KOLs within the Rare community
Recommend innovative tactical and customer-specific programs that will differentiate the Sanofi, Sanofi Genzyme and LSDs
Expected to compliantly collaborate and communicate across the BU to help ensure cohesiveness for targeted KOL
Single point of contact to resolve non-financial KOL issues when directed, by the Senior Director National TLL Head.
Orchestrates KOL Executive Encounters
Plan and execute KOL engagements and executive encounters at local, regional and nationals conferences, POAs, in field engagements, and other venues as directed in a complaint manner, and acts as a liaison between KOLs and HQ
Management of HQ SWARMS on a local and regional level; leading KOL engagement with executive leadership
Marketing Collaboration (Sub specialty emphasis on Pompe, Gaucher or Fabry)
Become the single point of contact for high volume speaker logistic/scheduling and working cross functionally to ensure appropriate communication and education
Work with targeted KOLs to obtain feedback on Brand-related marketing strategies/materials to gain insights on improvements
Provide real time insights and perspectives
Provide advisory board participant recommendations
Provide speaker recommendations to marketing when requested
Assist in the execution of commercial contracts when requested
Facilitate speaking engagements when needed

Education/Training Requirements
BA/BS Required
MBA or other advanced degree is preferred
Requirements
~30% - 50% travel
Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and 7+ yrs. of successful related experience
Experience in Genetic, LSD products or RARE diseases critical
Established relationship and access
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and collaboratively cross-functionally
