We are seeking a self-motivated, result oriented scientist with a strong work ethic to join the In Vitro Biology Group (Waltham, MA) as a scientist. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research and development team dedicated to small molecule drug discovery; independently conduct in vitro studies and be responsible for development and validation of a variety of biochemical assays, following by iteratively testing compound characteristics including potency, MOA (Mechanism Of Action) to drive SAR (Structure Activity relationship). The successful candidate is expected to have wide expertise in biochemistry, enzymology, and specifically in assay development and be able to support HTS/MTS campaigns; must have strong organization skills and ability to write technical reports describing the experiments and their outcome. As an active member of high value project teams, candidate will work collaboratively with medicinal chemists, biologists, DMPK scientists, etc., presenting his/her results at team meetings and participating in decision-making discussions. With an appropriate sense of urgency, the successful candidate will bring valuable experiences to address scientific questions, and is expected to be open-minded to learning new skills and new ways to streamline workflows and drive priorities.
Ph.D. with 3-5 years of professional experience developing in vitro biochemical assays in the biotech/pharmaceutical environment, or equivalent.
Experience in variety of enzymatic assay formats and a strong background in enzymology, biochemistry, biophysics is required.
The successful candidate should have good communication and presentation skills, work effectively in multitasking environment, be a good team player and be motivated to excel in both individual and team environments.
- Familiarity with small molecule drug discovery, DMPK assays; experience with HTS assay development and MOA studies is a plus.
- Strong biochemistry/enzymology background; experience with assay validation and working on early-stage drug discovery project teams is highly desirable.
- In-depth technical knowledge in the field of analytical experiment design, experience in separation of biomolecules is a plus.
- Familiarity with electronic notebooks is a plus.
- Strict attention to detail and excellent communication (oral and written) skills are required.
