Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated Enzymologist to join the In Vitro Biology Group (Waltham, MA) as a Senior Scientist. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research and development team dedicated to small molecule drug discovery. The candidate will be responsible for developing enzymatic assays for primary or secondary screening, run mechanism of action enzymatic assay to provide insightful SAR (structure activity relationship). The candidate is also expected to support screening (HTS/MTS) and be familiar with automation technologies

As an important member of high value project teams, the candidate will work collaboratively with medicinal chemists, biologists, DMPK scientists, etc., presenting his/her results at team meetings and influencing decision-making discussions. With an appropriate sense of urgency, the successful candidate will bring valuable experiences to address scientific questions, and is expected to be open-minded to learning new skills and new ways to streamline workflows and drive priorities.

 Basic Qualifications:

 Ph.D. with 5-7 years of professional experience developing/running enzyme assays in an industrial environment (Biotech/Pharma).  Experience in variety of assay formats used in the industry and a strong background in enzymology required.  Experience with Biophysics, understanding of SAR and correlating enzyme data with DMPK assays as well as background in medicinal chemistry background is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong enzymology background; experience working in a multidisciplinary drug discovery team is highly desirable. Experience with assay validation in a biotech/Pharma setting is a plus. Strict attention to detail and excellent communication (oral and written) skills are required. The candidate must be motivated to excel in both individual and team environments.

Ph.D. with 5-7 years of professional experience developing enzymatic assays in the biotech/pharmaceutical environment.
