Responsibilities

North America has globally renowned recommending bodies that drive immunization policy in the continent and around the world. Developing evidence to facilitate recommendations and vaccine adoption in North America is paramount to the success of Sanofi Pasteur’s vaccines in that region and globally. The Epidemiology and Health Economics Research Lead (RL) will develop an innovative research program that serves the needs of key recommending bodies and decision makers in North America while keeping the competitive advantage of Sanofi Pasteur in line with strategic goals. The RL will also serve as consultant on complex issues and will be required to work with opinion leaders and/or decisions makers to obtain feedback and support on company research strategies.

The RL must have passion for the company’s mission to improve human health by developing superior innovative vaccination solutions against infectious diseases, and to engage with the public health community to maximize and sustain vaccination impact.

More specially, the RL will:

Identify and validate of epidemiological and economic evidence gaps in North America Create a strategic research plans in collaboration with regional and global Sanofi Pasteur stakeholders (with in Medical and cross-functionally) Lead the execution of a world class research program

The RL will be a senior level expert who uses in-depth expertise (science and business) to achieve these goals.

Technical Expertise:

Candidates must possess a track record of excellence in at least one of the following areas:

1) Quantitative analysis using large administrative databases

2) Epidemiological and Economic infectious disease modeling

3) Field studies in epidemiological infectious disease surveillance and immunization program assessment

Reporting:

The RL will report with a solid line to the Head of Vaccine Epidemiology and Modeling at Sanofi Pasteur.

Budget:

The RL will be expected to manage a research budget of approximately 2-3 million USD. Also, strategically influence spending of the overall department budget of 15 million USD.

Challenges:

The RL will focus on important new product launches over the next 5 years (RSV, new influenza vaccines,  Meningitis), as well as, life cycle management of existing vaccines.

Education/experience:

  • MSc or PhD in Epidemiology/Mathematics /Economics or focused on quantitative analysis  (candidates with a primary Medical or Pharmacy degree will be given special consideration)
  • Substantial track record of peer reviewed publications
  • 10 years of experience working in vaccines and/or infectious diseases, candidates with shorter work experience must demonstrate a track record of high impact and relevant scientific contributions
  • Expertise in developing and leading multi stakeholder research collaborations in epidemiological and economics research
  • Fluent in English
