Responsibilities

Position Overview:

In this role, the Deputy Director, Medical Planning Lead will collaborate with Medical Directors to establish, develop, implement, and execute on strategic objectives. Participates in operational and project budget planning and reviews, as well as coordination and project management of transversal projects, whether franchise/product-team specific or across teams. Leads global or regional initiatives/special projects to ensure collaboration and implementation of Regional and global activities; shares best practices and provides leadership in development of new processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

The Deputy Director, Medical Planning Lead specific duties include but are not limited to the responsibilities outlined below.

​​Supports the overall development of country medical plans/roadmaps as part of  integrated brand planning in close collaboration with US Medical Directors and Brand Leads.

  • Works closely with other members of the cross-functional team in support of these plans.

  • Provides project management for the execution of the aligned activities, as well as tracking of progress and/or metrics.

  • Franchise/Brand external facing activities:

    • Provide support in the execution of activities and evaluate the need for new activities in alignment with US Franchise Medical team priorities.

    • Coordinate the implementation of activities with US Medical Directors, Sanofi Pasteur (SP) teams, and external stakeholders.

    • Follow-up on the activities until completion, proactively highlight potential issues to the Medical Directors, and support issue resolution.

    • Manage budgets for approved activities.

  • Event & Project Organization and Management Organize and execute external facing medical activities (eg advisory boards and scientific meetings) in close collaboration with the Medical Directors and vendors.

  • Provide strategic direction to the Medical team and administrative staff.

  • Communicate effectively with the Medical Directors and external HCPs for events and activities.

  • Work closely with the Contract Coordinator to draft contracts and agreements, and execute the validation process.

  • Manage all required documentation related to compliance and interaction with cross-functional members; ensure compliance with the process for external expert engagement.

Medical Operational Excellence

  • Provide support to Medical Directors in conceptualization and execution of meetings (e.g., cross-functional meetings and medical meetings) as needed

  • Support activities and tracking in alignment with Medical strategic plans

  • Provide Head of Medical Operations metrics for Medical Affairs dashboard

  • Contribute to/or lead special transversal projects in the region or in collaboration with Global Medical initiatives and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Medical Operations and Excellence

  • Financial operations (Budget and Resource)

    • Work closely with the Head of Medical Operations and Excellence in generating annual budgets and Medical spending reports

    • Support the budget planning and execution for the franchise, monitor budgets, and escalate any issues

    • Monitor within the Franchise allocation of budgets and resources as per emerging business needs

    • Liaise with Global Medical Operations team regarding alignment with global priorities

  • Contribute to the preparation of regional submission for finance cycles for regional team and coordinate with country medical heads for local submissions

Lead Global activities, special projects (ie, development of a project management system for Medical activities) and collaboration across Regions and functions.

  • Ensure plans for supported franchises are aligned with Global priorities.

  • Coordinates cross-functional Global projects with Global & Regional leadership, provides leadership in cross-functional team project management, and ensures delivery of projects on time and on budget.
