Responsibilities
The Utilities and Energy operator will supervise and monitor activities of the utility area that support Sanofi Ridgefield manufacturing facility. Utilities include Boilers, Chilled Water, Plant Steam, Domestic and Hot Water, Heating Hot Water, Compressed Air, Clean Steam, Water for Injection (WFI), Purified Water (PW), Nitrogen, Vacuum, HVAC, and Electrical system distribution. The candidate will monitor all the utilities during their shift in the control room and take periodic walkthrough the utility area to ensure all systems are performing optimally. They will also be required to properly document and report any anomalies in the system by following SOPs and proper GMP documentation. Candidate should be able to handle any emergency situation related to the high-pressure boiler system. They will also perform maintenance activities on the utility system during shift and bi-annual shutdown period to ensure reliable operation of the utility system. The Utilities and Energy operator will follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP's in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting.
Role Responsibilities
Monitor utility systems and properly document anomalies using SOP forms.
Foster a culture of teamwork, compliance, quality, safety and productivity with utility operators and other departments.
Take prompt action on alarms and communicate to the area affected.
Work with planning and scheduling for timely completion of daily and semi-annual shutdown corrective and preventative maintenance work orders. Efficiently coordinate the workflow and documentation of work orders using computer maintenance management system.
Coordinate with manufacturing and outside vendors to complete necessary work with minimal disruption to operations.
Work with Engineering and Reliability to improve reliability and performance of production process equipment and utility equipment.
Ensure continuous reliable uninterrupted service for all critical systems that support a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
Support standard plant operating procedures, emergency control procedures and control room practices to cGMP standards.
Identify opportunities to utilize the facility critical systems in a more efficient manner to improve reliability and reduce operating costs.
Support Internal and external audits as required.
Actively contribute to the improvement of policy, practices, and procedures.
Stay up to date on training and ensure full qualification to perform job duties.
Ensure that all regular scheduling, vacations, and other time off work is properly coordinated and approved by the supervisor.
Work with Engineering to ensure successful commissioning and qualification activities for new equipment.
Ensure a safe work environment is maintained through adherence to safety guidelines and policies (LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space, etc).
Communicates effectively with respect to verbal, written, and listening skills.
Establish goals and expectations for performance reviews.
Qualifications
MUST HAVE Blue Seal Engineer 1-C or Black Seal License or
High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer License
High school graduate.
cGMP industrial experience preferred, ideally covering Operations, Engineering, Projects and Validation within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
A minimum of 5 years in a maintenance or utility function.
Must be proficient with respect to the operation and maintenance of various utility systems.
Have a thorough knowledge of utility equipment, building and process control systems, using drawings, manuals, specifications, standard operating procedures, and be able to use proper judgment when taking corrective actions during equipment malfunction.
Keeps current with latest state of the art practices, regulatory trends and regulations.
Team player with exceptional customer service skills, integrity and ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills as well as problem analysis and resolution.
Lives the cultural beliefs of the organization, leads by example and has the flexibility to adapt to changing business priorities.
Is open to and actively seeks out feedback on their performance and translates that feedback into action.
Experience with writing and implementing operations procedures.
The ability to effectively interact with various internal and external stakeholders and departments.
Ability to analyze the performance and operating efficiency of the systems in order to optimize energy use and production.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office suite of products, CMMS, HMIs).
Must possess strong work ethic (exemplary attendance, self-starter and highly motivated).
Willing to work off-shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to support activities.
Experience with computer-based maintenance management systems (Infor EAM).
Capable of managing maintenance shutdown activities.
Experience working in controlled or clean room environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in these work environments.
