We’re investing €400m a year into the new Center, hiring a team of 450 dedicated employees, and focusing on implementing an integrated end-to-end mRNA vaccine capabilities and research platform with R&D, digital and CMC teams.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The head of the CoE Scientific Strategy/Competitive Intelligence will support the mRNA COE Head & leadership team to define the middle term & long-term strategy related to the application and evolution of the overall mRNA Technology (mRNA design & nature, Vehicle nature & design) to the prophylactic & therapeutic areas contemplated by Sanofi Strategic office & Therapeutic area heads (Oncology, Rare Disease, Immuno inflammation). As such he will orchestrate within the COE the strategic days preparation for the Vx GBUs, inform the mRNA COE Head of the megatrends in the overall mRNA business ecosystem.

ABOUT GROWING WITH US AND WINNING WITH US

In this role you will

  • Create a strategic business plan and profile focused for the mRNA Center of Excellence which provides clear direction and positioning for platform within the company
  • Integrate new areas of innovation within mRNA and adjacent spaces and recommends technologies or programs to steer the platform evolution
  • Support COE and R&D to drive key strategic decisions leveraging deep understanding and analysis of competitive intelligence across technologies, pipelines and novel applications
  • Develop threat assessments and demonstrate strategic agility to provide guidance for dynamic planning and execution
  • Conduct deep dive analyses & communicate competitive intelligence across technologies, pipelines, and novel applications within mRNA and adjacent spaces
  • Serve as a cross-functional strategist with Sanofi Research Head, Sanofi New platform Head, Sanofi Research Therapeutic Area Heads, Sanofi Strategic office, Vx GBU Board, Vx New Franchise Head to inform, shape and guide Center of excellence trajectory
  • Support development and synthesis of messaging, slides and white papers for LT, Exec Comm, BOD and key strategic initiatives across the organization 
  • Communicate with leadership across mRNA Center of Excellence and GBUs on current & future state outlooks and areas of potential growth and first-comer status
  • Communicate to VxRD and Vaccine GBUs on current and future state outlooks and areas of potential growth and first-comer status. As such, Lead CoE strategic contributions to the GBU incl. Strat Days exercise, VEC steercos, board meetings

PROFILE 

  • Relevant qualifications & capabilities
  • B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals with at 8-10 years of pharma/biotech industry experience with a focus on business development and strategy
  • Thought leader with extensive knowledge in mRNA field including comprehensive understanding of RNA, delivery and competitive technologies
  • Knowledge of nucleic acid-based technologies & applications
  • Record of successful due diligence experience and proven capability of evaluating/developing new technologies
  • Direct experience with clear communication to Executive Committees and Board of Directors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and collaborate in team, enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Demonstrate Play to Win culture behaviours
