Job Responsibilities/Department Description:

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow to support ongoing research studying the role of glycosphingolipid dysregulation in genetic kidney disorders within the Rare and Neurologic Disease Research department of Sanofi-Genzyme. The candidate will design, execute, document, and interpret in vitro and in vivo experiments to understand the mechanisms by which glucosylceramide synthase inhibitors (GCSi) mediate their effects on kidney disease. The successful applicant will communicate research results internally and externally through publications and presentations and will collaborate effectively within a diverse team of scientists seeking to improve the treatment of kidney disease.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute in vitro and in vivo assays to study GCSi mechanisms of action on kidney disease
  • Collaborate within and outside the Rare and Neurological Disease Research department to understand common GCSi mechanisms of action across disease indications
  • Analyze experimental data and provide scientific input on further research
  • Record, analyze, and report experimental results

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD  + 0-3 years of postdoctoral training in  in cell biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or a related discipline
  • Excellent data management, writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • All candidates must have permanent US work authorization. No visa sponsorship will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise with cell culture and in vitro assay development
  • Strong understanding of kidney biology preferred
  • Understanding of glycosphingolipid metabolism or function is desirable

Familiarity with single-cell RNASeq and/or bioinformatic tools to analyze large data sets would be highly desirable
