Responsibilities

General Description

The Digital R&D Department plays a key role in the growth and success of Sanofi by delivering value-added technology solutions throughout the R&D value chain. Within Digital R&D, our Team delivers Agile projects, applications and services contributing to Sanofi Product and Process Development activities and performance.

Our key stakeholders belong to the CMC (Chemistry Manufacturing & Control) Global Function in Sanofi R&D. CMC has started an ambitious digital transformation to improve labs productivity and reduce development timelines. Our Team is the frontrunner in the digital transformation of CMC by leading the iLab project for Digital.

The iLab Platform provides the digital foundation to CMC development labs globally (Pharma and Pasteur): Document scientific work and capture related data; Facilitate collaboration between labs; Digitize operating procedures into structured methods/recipes; Establish direct integration with lab instruments to avoid transcription errors during experiment/method execution. The first release of iLab went live in Q4-2020 with an ambitious deployment plan for the next 3 years.

Key Responsibilities

(S)He is accountable for an “iLab Factory” with end-to-end ownership of this Factory. An iLab Factory is an Agile delivery team that digitize CMC lab workflows in the iLab Platform.

iLab Factories are instrumental to deploy iLab successfully and provide value-added content to numerous labs worldwide, remove paper processes and generate higher efficiency & data integrity in CMC. Each Factory will be composed of a mixed internal-external team of 20 people on average.

  • Build the iLab Factory, including Operating & Governance Model, Demand Management Process, Team Organization

  • Manage and coordinate the iLab Factory Team following Agile principles. Ensure quality of deliveries such as: new Experiment Templates, Electronic Methods/Recipes with Lab Instrument Connection

  • Work closely with his(her) CMC Counterparts to review new demands. Arbitrate when necessary

  • Define and monitor appropriate SLAs (Service Level Agreements) with internal and external Stakeholders

  • Report on the Factory’s performance (KPIs) and utilization metrics

  • Identify and execute continuous improvement plan for the Factory

  • Ensure Factory services are provided in compliance with applicable standards & requirements (Quality, Architecture, Governance, Cybersecurity, etc.)

  • Liaise with other iLab Factory Leaders to ensure end-to-end service deliveries to CMC labs.

Formal Education and Skills Required

  • University degree in computing, computer science and/or scientific discipline.

  • 5 to 10 years direct work experience in an IT area, preferably R&D or Manufacturing areas.

  • Experience in Application Life Cycle Management (plan, design, build, operate).

  • Service mindset. Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English, presentation and organizational skills, interpersonal skills to ensure efficient relationship with all stakeholders.

  • Ability to work effectively in a worldwide, multi-cultural, multidisciplinary, matrix environment.

  • Open to new communication technology like (for example) webinar, video (tutorial) preparation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in lab automation and connectivity.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the processes and workflows related to R&D.

  • Willing, ready and enthusiastic to bring digitalization to the scientific community.

  • Experience in Third-Party management.

  • Experience in operational management: outcome driven, stakeholders management, IT operations.
