Position Summary

The Specialty Channel Trade Operations Lead is responsible for establishing and implementing operational strategy for specialty channel distribution across Rare Diseases and Rare Blood Disorders brands. This role will synthesize strategies from leadership into action plans for operational execution and provide oversight for all operational activities across the Specialty Care Channel Distribution team.

The Specialty Channel Trade Operations Lead will be responsible for date and services contracting strategy and execution for all specialty pharmacies (SPs) and direct customers across Rare Diseases and Rare Blood Disorders, as well as developing key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and scorecards to measure impact, success, and key deliverables and drive operational performance within the specialty channel.  This role will play a crucial part in collaborating with customer-facing teams to gain feedback & field insights to ultimately have more productive two-way dialogue with the specialty pharmacies.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage operations team supporting specialty channel distribution for Rare Diseases and Rare Blood Disorders
  • Accountable for developing, coaching and leading the Specialty Channel Trade Operations Team
  • Develop specialty channel distribution and data and services contracting strategies and oversee management of operational activities for product launches
  • Oversee development of ongoing distribution and operational strategies across all Rare Diseases and Rare Blood Disorders
  • Develop specialty pharmacy (SP) contracting strategy around data, enhanced services, service level agreements, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Oversee creation of business rationale (BR) documentation and fair market value analyses (FMV) to establish foundation for contracted data and services
  • Develop measurements and metrics for enhanced services, service level agreements, and key performance indicators (KPIs) in the SP contracts in order to evaluate SP performance and eligibility for contracted fees
  • Partner with Patient and Provider Services (PPS) leads to ensure aligned communication and collaboration in regard to operational plans for Rare Diseases and Rare Blood Disorders brands
  • Partner with Forecasting on inventory management and product distribution
  • Partner with Trade Operations, Strategic Customer Relations and Business Support, Supply Chain, and Value & Access colleagues on distribution planning and troubleshooting supply or access issues
  • Support and maintain a high level of communication and collaboration with key partners within the distribution network (e.g. PPS, Customer Support, Supply Chain), including issue management
  • Engage directly with brand teams to ensure operational alignment with brand strategies, including conducting business review meetings with internal customers and participating in Business Unit meetings, providing insights and operational expertise
  • Ensure critical customer and business insights are communicated to brand leadership, USMA, sales leadership and senior management; recommend solutions and corrective tactics as needed to the SP and PPS leadership teams
  • Provide strategic analysis and engagement to share business insights and identify opportunities for business growth and/or process improvements
  • Enable cross-functional collaboration with the Trade, PSS, Value & Access, and Account Director teams to share insights, ensure consistency, and collaborate on solutions to issues that occur for Rare Diseases and Rare Blood Disorders brands
  • Role model and contribute towards strengthening our ethics and compliance culture, and awareness of Sanofi’s code of conduct
  • Ad hoc projects and initiatives as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Minimum of seven (7) years in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Specialty Distribution, Market Access, Specialty Pharmacy, and/or leadership experience
  • Launch experience with biopharmaceutical specialty products in multiple distribution models (limited, preferred, open)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and project management skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to meet deadlines with quality deliverables; manage project scope, timelines, and budget
  • Strong business acumen with an ability to manipulate & analyze robust levels of data and further summarize key insights to develop & deliver executive level presentations
  • Operations experience in guiding teams to execute & pull through against actionable tactical plans and further self-impose tight deadlines to overachieve on deliverables
  • Networking capabilities to learn from and work with different teams, departments, customers and vendors
  • Ability to work effectively with Medical, Legal, and Regulatory functions to ensure appropriate review and timely delivery of communication materials
  • Full understanding of payer landscape and US healthcare environment, especially within the Market Access functions
  • Collaborate and work effectively as a team member with internal teams and external partners
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
