Head, Commercial Operations

The Head, Commercial Operations will lead a team of professionals committed to executional excellence with field platforms, tools, and processes aligned to the US Specialty Care business units and their objectives. The role will build, activate and optimize US commercial capabilities to support excellence in planning and execution of sales and marketing.  The Head of Commercial Operations will contribute to the development of the 3-5 year US Commercial Strategic Plan.  The role is responsible for daily operations of the following areas:

  • Data Quality Management

  • CRM and Field Enablement

  • Territory Alignment

  • Promotional Program Management

  • Field Digital Media Administration

  • Partner for Business Operations Shared Services

  • MCE / Omni-channel execution across Specialty Care

In this role, the successful candidate will ensure best in class services, working closely with colleagues in Business Operations as well as the VPs of Sales, Business Unit Heads, and Marketing Heads to develop and prioritize an evolving landscape of tools, data and services for the field teams. The Head, Commercial Operations will be the primary partner to Business Operations Shared Service colleagues to identify efficiencies across therapeutic areas, support innovations across business units, and support continued process improvement. The successful candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers; develop, and coach  talent; foster a culture of inclusion, diversity and belonging; and oversee, guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

The Commercial Operations head will collaborate extensively with ITS to architect and enhance current CRM platform and other sales effectiveness systems. In addition, s/he will partner with senior sales and marketing leadership to identify and successfully implement opportunities for sales process improvement, fostering an organization of continual process improvement.

This position will serve as a member of the US Business Operations and Shared Services leadership team.  This role will report to the Head, Business Operations & Shared Services for Sanofi Genzyme

Location: Cambridge, MA


  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 10+ years of experience in Biotech/Pharma industry

  • 5+ years of experience leading teams

  • Knowledge of specialty care market

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking

  • Previous Sales Operations (SFE) and/or Commercial Operations experience


  • Broad understanding of sales and marketing process

  • Strong understand of data strategy / management

  • Experience in business analytics and reporting

  • Understanding of ITS architecture and development of CRM platforms

  • Experience in omni-channel strategy development and execution

  • MBA or other advanced degree is preferred

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional groups and levels

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Strong project management expertise

  • Self-direction in ambiguous environments
