Responsibilities

Scientist:Flow Cytometry-Lab OperationsLead 

TheSanofi ResearchFlow Cytometry Center of Excellence (CoE) is seeking an experienced and highly specializedflow cytometry professionaltoleadand manage the daily operationsofour flow cytometry shared resource labin CambridgeThis individual will work closely with multiple investigatorsandscientistsacross all therapeutic areasto ensure accurate, relevant,and reproducible data is being generated. 

Responsibilities:

  • Characterizeperformanceand qualifyall cytometers.

  • Establish aQuality Control (QC)programincluding occasional and routinemaintenance and cleaningto ensure cytometer performance and stabilityover time.

  • Ensure all instruments adhere to the Quality Control Program to identify performance inconsistencies andestablishmitigation strategies to minimize instrumentdown-time.

  • Troubleshoot instrument problems to resolve issues.  Liase directly with vendor service engineers for scheduled PM service and repair work orders.  

  • Train new users to responsibly and efficiently prepare cytometers and execute their flow cytometry experiments from acquisition of samples to data export.  

  • Be a resource and guide to scientists as to best practices in flow cytometry.

  • Assist scientists during all cell sorting experimentsfrom start to finish, including planning and scheduling.

  • Manage scientist accessibility to instruments through scheduling and troubleshoot and resolve conflicts.

  • Maintain an advanced level of scientific skill and knowledge and keeps up with current developments and trends in the area of flow cytometry.

  • Coordinate with vendors to organize seminars and events to highlight technologyadvancements.

  • Applies extensive knowledge of concepts, principles, practices and methods specifically used in analysis and cell sorting. Demonstrates expertise in multi- parameter analysis of cells, identification and/or sorting of cell populations using flow cytometry technology.

  • Ensures compliance with safety standards to maintain a safe environment.

Skills and Requirements:

  • MS/BS withcommensurate hands-on experiencewith proveneffectivecustomer serviceattributes andqualities.

  • Requires minimum of 5yearsexperiencein the daily operationofsophisticated flow cytometry instrumentsin a sharedresourcelabenvironment servingmanyinvestigatorsacrosstherapeutic areas and disciplines(Immunology,Auto-Immunity,Rare Blooddisorders,Inflammation,Neurology,and Oncology).
  • Intimately familiar with operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting ofa number ofinstrumentsfrom multiple vendors (bold are required):

  • BD:Canto,Fortessa, Aria, Melody,Symphony 
  • Sony:SH800, MA900
  • Specialty Instruments: Cytek Aurora,Imagestream, Helios Cytof 
  • Able toperform multicolorsort experiments whilemaintainingsterile sorting environment
  • Must possess experimental knowledgeand understanding of flow applications beyond 15 colorsincluding aspects of sample processing, staining and acquisition.
  • Required experience in applications in multiple scientific arenas including phenotyping, cytokine expression, phosphor-flow, apoptosis and other relevant applications.
  • Knowledge to perform experiments to compare cytometer performance and standardize instrument set up.
  • Ability tocollaboratewith multiple scientists acrossmultipletherapeutic areas in a cross functionalmanner to understand their flow needs and offer solutions.
  • Highly organizedwith attention to detailto manage all aspects of the lab such asreagent/supply ordering, inventories, etc.
