Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Checkpoint Immunology
Sanofi postdoctoral research program is designed to provide an opportunity for a high-caliber Ph.D. graduate to be part of an industry leading scientific team working on understanding and solving the world’s most difficult biomedical problems facing patients.
Over the course of the two year program, the scientist will push the boundaries of innovation by conducting groundbreaking research. The program provides a unique work experience where the successful scientist will be addressing a research problem with an academic focus and drug discovery perspective. Postdoctoral scientist will learn what it means to work in Sanofi’s cutting-edge environment, as they prepare for a career in the global healthcare discovery industry.
The Immunology and Inflammation Research Therapeutic Area in Sanofi is seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative postdoctoral fellow to explore the function of checkpoint receptors in inflammation and autoimmune diseases. The successful candidate will have expertise in Immunology, hands on experience in cellular biochemistry, and broad knowledge of checkpoint receptors biology.
Key Responsibilities
Design, execute, analyze, and interpret complex immunological experiments to explore novel checkpoint receptor biology and validate the hypothesis.
Use various molecular biology approaches and leverage groundbreaking technologies, including single cell RNAseq, multiplex immunofluorescence, and tissue spatial transcriptomic to investigate checkpoint receptor biology.
Demonstrate independent problem solving and systematic data-driven experimental design and execution.
Evaluate new technologies and platforms that may be applied in current or future checkpoint biology studies.
Prepare and publish manuscripts, present research work in internal and external meetings.
Basic Qualifications
PhD in Biology/Immunology, Cell Biology, Microbiology or a related life science field and 0-3 years of experience.
Strong background knowledge in innate and adaptive immunology is required. Relevant experience or broad knowledge in checkpoint immune receptor biology in autoimmunity is a plus.
Expertise in various in vitro immunological assays and signal transduction assay is required. Experience in multicolor flow cytometry to identify and characterize immune cells is required. Strong skills in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Cell Biology are essential.
Previous bioinformatics working experience with transcriptomic and spatial transcriptomic data acquisition and analysis is preferred.
Proven ability to lead and manage complex research projects, evidence of scholarly publishing, a strong desire to work in a collaborative team environment are required.
Excellent organization, communication, presentation skills and scientific writing skills.
Creative thinking and curiosity with science. Ability to ask impactful scientific questions and address them with different experimental approaches.
