The Partnering organization’s mission includes seeking and executing external growth initiatives to address the Sanofi Group´s strategic priorities in line with the Play to Win Strategy. The key activities of Business Development include the scouting, evaluation, structuring, negotiation and closing of strategic alliances with external partners, involving products and other product-related assets.
Within Partnering, the Operations department includes a group of highly skilled Due Diligence Leader professionals with the explicit goal of developing an industry-best capability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver on high-quality due diligence output for in-licensing/collaboration opportunities across all therapeutic areas. This represents a significant volume and diversity of activity spanning businesses including Specialty Care (Neurology, Rare Diseases, Immunology, Oncology), Platform Technologies, Vaccines, General Medicines (China & Emerging Markets) and Digital. The quality of insight generated by such a high-performing team is a critical success factor for the organization, with the ability to shape and support business investment decisions.
The current position, reporting to the Head of Due Diligence, is to lead Due Diligence activities for new business opportunities across the full scope of priority therapeutic areas and technologies.
Due Diligence Representative on the core Deal Team Establishing diligence strategy for each project Staffing due diligence teams, including the identification of internal and external experts and contributors; Coordination of all activities relating to the due diligence evaluation and process for a specific opportunity; Internal kick-off due diligence meetings and objective setting; Creating an environment for Sanofi as the preferred partner through liaising with third parties and target companies; Efficient management of remote (data room) evaluation, Q&A and on-site visits; Deliverables including risk assessments/management plans, diligence reports and key internal governance slide presentations that are adapted to the asset(s) of interest and audience; Interaction with Senior management and presentation of diligence findings to governance committees in support of decision-making; Supporting deal teams by ensuring diligence output is integrated in risk mitigation plans; Learning from experience for continual improvement and contributing to defining best practices and strategies for optimizing corporate resource utilization

Knowledge and skills
Project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams for scientific and medical projects, setting clear goals and meeting timelines.
Problem-solving: The ability to analyze, solve problems and propose solutions in complex situations are essential skills.
Risk assessment: good appreciation of methodologies for risk analysis and classification and how to translate to mitigation strategies.
Broad-based scientific training: the ability to quickly understand the innovative science or drug discovery technology underlying the therapeutic value of targeted asset(s).
Business acumen: the ability to understand basic economic, commercial and financial project valuation.
Communication and negotiation: skills for effective interaction with internal partners such as deal team colleagues, R&D function heads and business leaders, as well as senior management.
Leadership: demonstrated leadership skills including leading transverse teams.
- A PhD or MD in an area of drug discovery, research, development related disciplines (candidates with a Master’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharma/biotech industry will also be considered)
A minimum of 5 years of experience working within the pharma/biotech industry
Written and verbal fluency in English
Experience leading cross-functional due diligence projects in a life science business development or M&A role
Proven and demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams
- Position may require up to 10% overall travel (domestic and international)
- Flexible Work- Remote work 2 days a week
- The successful candidate will be required to sign and execute a restricted covenant upon hire.
