Team: The Global Digital Team for Specialty Care is focused on driving and accelerating digital transformation via delivery of digital products (marketing technology platforms, digital therapeutics, etc.) across the different therapeutic areas and directed at patients, physicians and/or payers. This team works to implement Sanofi’s Digital strategy by bringing dedicated expertise internally at Sanofi and externally with digital health and/or technology partners to build the core digital foundation and drive growth thru digital across all business areas. 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Digital Product Manager is senior leader in the Specialty Care Digital Team and is accountable for digital product delivery of identified strategic digital priorities. The role operates as a mini CEO for this digital product line with responsibility encompassing digital product strategy co-development with a global therapeutic area, digital product roadmap planning, digital product delivery thru scrum team (either thru internal resources and/or external partnerships), and business impact measurement.

Digital Product Planning & Roadmap: Working closely with the global therapeutic areas and local franchises, (s)he is responsible for identifying customer needs, prioritizing features, guiding the work through the Program Kanban and developing the program vision and roadmap.

The role also requires close partnership with the Global Digital Strategy & Business Development team in articulation of business requirements, determination if a digital product should be done in-house or thru a partnership (either in a Build-Operate-Transfer model or business development framework), assessment of which partners to work with and product management of that partnership.

Digital Product Delivery: The role owns the definition and deployment identified and priority Digital products from inception to launch, in line with the business unit’s strategic objectives.

The role rationalizes the digital product roadmap across Specialty Care to ensure that the digital product is designed in a way that they can be leveraged globally taking into account monetization models, localization needs, translation, supportability, etc.

The role helps translate the global and regional strategies for product enhancements with adequate detail for engineering development and acts as a mediator between internal stakeholders, consumers and the technology teams.  

To deliver these digital products, the role directly manages scrum teams either internal and/or external resources. This critical role will also work cross-functionally with all areas of the business, partnerships, and with senior stakeholders in commercial, research, technology, and marketing departments.

Digital Business Impact: The role will work closely with the Global Business Unit (Brand and Finance), CDO Office (Finance) and Digital Analytics for the identification, measurement and executive level reporting on the business impact of the digital product.

A critical aspect of this role is presentation of digital product milestones at the Digital Towers to the Executive Teams in Specialty Care and Chief Digital Office.   

Based in US (Boston) or France (Paris), the person in this role will represent the Specialty Care  Digital function for certain activities in agreed delegation and connecting to the Global Digital team, especially with team members based in France.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for setting strategy, leading and managing our product portfolio with a goal to scale to a global distribution

  • Be the internal voice of the customer for the program and works with customers to constantly understand and communicate their needs and participate in the validation of the proposed solutions

  • Collaborate with Global Consumer Experience team to define ecosystem and design deliverables 

  • Drive the strategic direction and prioritization of SPC’s products features

  • Collaborate with design, engineering, marketing, strategy, operations to understand the feasibility and subsequent deliverability of new products or product enhancements

  • Define, create and communicate product roadmaps aligned with business objectives and supported by business cases, market research, customer data, user research and competitive analysis

  • Document and prioritize product specifications including goals, use cases, user stories, and business requirements 

  • Continuously develops and communicates the vision to the development teams and defines the features of the system,

  • Contributes to the definition and to maintain the Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) to help ensure that the solution meets relevant standards and other system quality requirements,

  • Is responsible for the roadmap, illustrating how features are intended to be implemented over time, 

  • Manages the flow of work through the program Kanban and into the program backlog,

  • Manages backlog refinement and drives features prioritization effort,

  • Is largely responsible for release definition, deciding when enough value has been accrued to warrant a release to the customer. 

  • Participates to program increment objectives approval and business value achievement measurement, 

  • Builds and manage cross functional team/scrum team, including quality/legal/RA 

  • Define KPI and value proposition and act according to impacts (Continue, Adjust or stop.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will overseas the creation and lifecycle of iCare Exchange. iCare Exchange is the global Sanofi Genzyme Patient Services Integration Hub. The objective of iCare Exchange is to develop a central product, or Hub, which enables all patient related data exchanges between: 

  • Internal patient service products: patient CRM, patient mobile applications and the central patient data lake title iCare Insight.

  • External patient service applications and partners: this includes all data sources such as IQVIA, Merckle, CapGemini, AssistRX, ConnectRX, CoverMyMed and many others.

In close collaboration with the Digital Architecture leadership and key other Digital Product Owners from the Patient Services space, the Digital Product Owner Patient Support Services Exchange will overseas the strategy, architecture, engineering and lifecycle of this new product focusing on, but not limited to:

  • A Pub/Sub approach to patient data exchanges targeting a lose coupling of in/out-bound systems

  • An API level integration approach to exchange patient data in near-real-time with systems and products requiring immediate notification

  • the integration or creation of Sanofi Intellectual Property related to Patient Data Exchanges, in a microservice strategic approach fostering maximum reusability

  • the documentation of a SDK related to all above aspects and allowing the internal and external partners to make best and full usage of the central hub.

He/She will also:

  • Build and maintain a strategic and operational roadmap for a portfolio of data integrations across the Patient landscape

  • Identifying key decision points across platforms, operating models, skill gaps, and capability gaps

  • Establish a formal and structured process to conduct assessment and POCs before any major transformation initiatives are initiated

  • Explore and leverage the evolving landscape of predictive modelling and exploratory analytics across the patient continuum

  • Transversally engage and collaborate across PODS to meet their data exchange needs

  • Transversally engage and collaborate across ‘consuming’ department to meet their data exchange needs: BO&S, Brand Teams, Real World Evidence, Multi-Channel Engagement, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or management required

  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience; Professional experience of 10+ years building complex digital solutions, and/or advanced degree in STEM (MS, PhD). Ideally have 2+ years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience.

  • Post COVID: Ability to travel up to, and potentially in excess of, 20% of the time, including some weekends and hold valid international passport.

  • Completed training or certification in agile.

  • Strong cross functional leadership and influencing skills. 

  • Ability to lead people, timelines and work in a matrix organization in compliant and professional manner. 

  • Experience in managing quarterly budgets. 

  • Excellent presentation to executive teams, writing, power point and organizational skills. 

  • Experience managing external vendors.

  • Working knowledge of the regulatory environment.

  • Experience in strategic development in a multi-dimensional and rapid changing environment.

Digital Product Leadership: 

  • Expertise in leading cross-functional teams to create Digital Strategies and Implementation roadmaps. Distinctive focus on solution objectives and application of product methodologies (design thinking, iteration, fast fail, etc.).

  • Demonstrated track record of designing, developing, and delivering multiple transformative digital and/or technology solutions. 

  • History of relentless problem-solving, creatively overcoming roadblocks to deliver solutions in a complex governance environment. Outstanding risk management and “get things done” mindset. 

  • Digital expertise: Extensive knowledge of digital capabilities and methods; a strong educator, able to teach basics (SEO, UI/UX, Agile, etc.) and explain complex topics (solution architecture, emerging technologies) in non-technical language.

  • Fast learning: Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new industries (e.g., having changed industries) and functions (e.g., legal, finance).

People leadership: 

  • Background of outstanding relationship-building, and working effectively in a highly matrixed, culturally diverse organization. 

  • Advanced influence skills; skilled at influencing people at all levels of seniority, including people who do not work for him/her. Ability to balance between pushing for change and bringing people along with us, using a possibility-oriented conflict resolution mindset.

  • Communications excellence: Ability to quickly produce high-quality written communications, business cases and analyses (adept at using MS Office)
