Position Overview:

The primary responsibility for the RBD Scientific Communication Congress Strategy Lead, The Congress Strategy Lead will be responsible for the development, strategic alignment, and execution of RBD Congress strategy (aligned with overall RBD TA objectives) that will shape how the RBD Medical Team communicates with both internal and external audiences at congresses pertinent to Hemophilia, Complement, aTTP and Pipeline portfolio.

The incumbent will work cross functionally to ensure a unified medical congress presence through execution on all pre-, and post- Scientific congress activities for the RBD portfolio. The Congress Strategy Lead will work across the portfolio in close collaboration with other Scientific Communication leads and medical functions to lead and coordinate strategic medical congress activities.

This role is responsible for collaborating with congress teams in different regions as needed to determine resource needs and relative prioritization of RBD engagement at various Congresses. This includes tiering of congress to rationalize spend and creating systems, recommending sponsorships decisions and coordination of overall scientific communications through various channels to meet the scientific needs of the audience.

The role will lead medical logistics meetings, keep internal tools and trackers up to date with relevant information, manage individual workload and budgetary spend, prioritize tasks, and alert Scientific Communications team to potential risks or concerns and support appropriate triage. This role will be a liaison between medical and commercial congress teams in terms of information sharing as well as aligned and compliant execution of data dissemination and medical education deliverables. The incumbent will also participate on special projects and assignments as needed. This role will serve as the champion to create a roadmap for digital transformation of Congress engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategize and tailor congress capabilities and incorporate metrics on all medical activities at congresses in a specific therapeutic area (TA).

  • Works closely with Scientific Communication Leads and Matrix Team members in driving excellence in planning and execution at a congress.

  • Leads customization and utilization of Medical Congress Playbooks to support a specific TA.

  • Maintain annual strategic and prioritized Congress Plan in a specific TA.

  • Ensures smooth execution on all medical activities during the congress.

  • Consolidates, analyzes, and disseminates the lessons learned and innovative ideas across the Medical Matrix Teams and Affiliates in RBD.

  • Leads development and execution of a comprehensive RBD TA Congress Strategy Plan and budget.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctoral level degree (Ph.D., Pharm.D., or M.D.) in life sciences with minimum of 5 years Clinical experience or bio-pharmaceutical industry experience within Medical/ Clinical Affairs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and effectively communicate complex scientific and clinical data to internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Medical Communications and/or Publications Management.

  • Clinical knowledge in Rare Blood Disorders.

  • Ability to collaborate and build solid working relationships cross-functionally.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, thinks critically, and adheres to deadlines.

  • Demonstrated functional knowledge of applicable guidelines including ICMJE, ACCME, OIG, PhRMA, GPP & GCP.

  • Result- and customer-focused.

  • Highly committed and flexible working attitude.

  • Ability to understand, critically analyze, and summarize complex scientific and medical data and understand risk taking approach with regards to claims.

  • Critical thinking – ability to challenge the status quo.

  • Experience working in a complex organization and the ability to operate in a matrix, team-oriented structure.

  • Demonstrate track record in building and maintaining a network of internal and external experts, experience in working across and building effective partnerships.

  • Experience in supervising and managing medical writing tasks and tools, including electronic tools, including subcontracting medical writing tasks.
