Position Overview:

The Associate Director, Global Medical Communications (MS) & Neuroscience will lead the strategy and development of Global medical, clinical, and scientific communication tactics for Sanofi's MS and Neurology portfolio. These tactics include internal and external communications such as core slide libraries, proactive and reactive materials for field use, backgrounders and FAQs, congress booth materials and leading congress symposia. This role will report to the Head of MS, Neurology and Immunology Scientific Communications within Global Medical Affairs.  Tactical implementation will involve collaboration with numerous internal stakeholders across the Sanofi organization, as well as academic experts and HCPs in the external Neurology/MS community. A key element of this role will be to motivate, drive and encourage collaborators to develop creative channels to inform and educate a wide variety of audiences. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a passionate, high profile, high-impact Medical Affairs team, and we are seeking a teammate with high aptitude and a great attitude.
When appropriate, domestic and international travel will eventually be required; typically 1-2 domestic and 1-2 international congresses, and 1-2 international internal company meetings

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of (and updates to) the annual medical communications plan for assigned product(s) and the Global Brand Plan.

  • Contribute to the development of internal guidance and resource documents.

  • Ensure appropriate tracking, execution, and budgeting for the medical communications tactical plan for assigned product(s). 

  • Work with external vendors/service providers, including the Medical agency(ies) of record, in assisting with medical communications planning and execution; monitor budget allotted to external vendors.

  • Develop and maintain reasonable expertise in MS as a disease state, plus literature regarding overall treatment options, and Genzyme product data.

  • Engage external Neurologists, researchers, and MS experts when appropriate.

  • Ensure that key data, strategically aligned scientific communication points, elements from other internal guidance and resource documents are included appropriately in publications, and that statements and conclusions are accurate, balanced, and supported by appropriate data.

  • Participate in relevant cross-functional teams and task forces to represent the Global Medical Communications and Content Development team as needed. Make presentations to colleagues and senior management as needed.

  • Participate in budget forecasting for medical communications development, and help obtain necessary MSAs, SOWs and other contracts with vendors . Manage monthly accruals.

  • Facilitate review and approval of medical communications materials through appropriate Global governance teams.

  • Help manage work flow for Fellows, students and contractors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience and demonstrated skill in the analysis, communication and presentation of complex scientific and medical information.

  • Basic ability to manage budgets and accruals.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, and verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment, and to work independently on projects..

  • A productive track record of prior medical and/or scientific communications.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage several projects simultaneously.

  • Experience writing background materials, slide creation, and medical education.

  • Experience collaborating with and supporting international medical scientific colleagues.

  • Ability to think strategically and translate to tangible and actionable plans.
