Job Summary

Sanofi Consumer Healthcare US is a leading marketer and manufacturer of a broad portfolio of branded over-the-counter (OTC) healthcare products, in such categories as allergy, upper and lower gastrointestinal, skin care, topical pain care, oral care and other OTC toiletry products.  The US CHC portfolio includes well-recognized brands such as: Allegra, Nasacort, Xyzal, Dulcolax, Zantac, Gold Bond, Cortizone-10, Icy Hot, Aspercreme, Rolaids, ACT, Unisom, and Selsun Blue. 

Sanofi Consumer Healthcare (formerly known as Chattem) was acquired by Sanofi in March 2010, employs approximately 825 associates, has a primary customer base of the typical US-based food, drug and mass merchandisers and has operations and corporate activities in six facilities located in Chattanooga, TN.

The Company was founded as the Chattanooga Medicine Company on February 21, 1879. On March 10, 2010 Sanofi-Aventis completed the acquisition of 100% of Chattem, Inc., which is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Sanofi-Aventis Group.

Job Responsibilities

The Director - Amazon Platform is in charge of the development and day to day execution of the Amazon account strategy to drive business success.

The Director will work cross functionally with key internal and external stakeholders (including an Amazon agency) to drive success in the Amazon account. Ultimately, the goal of the Director is to meet its business and marketing objectives through the translation and day to day execution of the eCommerce strategy to Amazon.com account plans across all content areas.

The Director is responsible for co-developing and executing the eCommerce strategy and objectives of Sanofi CHC as it relates to Amazon.com in both marketing and sales. To work effectively, the Director will leverage cross-functional support with both internal and external stakeholders to drive ultimate transformation success.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Develop Amazon.com platform strategy, including translation of global, local, and brand specific priorities into a cohesive approach to drive brand equity, marketing objectives, and profitable sales volume through the platform
  • Develop Amazon.com platform level annual plans, including definition of long-term strategy and objectives, derivation of short-term action plans
  • Execute day to day platform management activities aligned with strategy and account plan, including ownership of Amazon.com relationships and execution (with internal / external support including an Amazon agency) of required activities
  • Build strategic partnerships with Amazon.com by integrating Sanofi CHC and Amazon.com strategic initiatives, fostering relationships with key Amazon contacts to drive joint value creation
  • Define and execute Amazon.com trade spend and promotional investment levels, aligned with the role of the platform in overall eCommerce strategy and business objectives
  • Identify ideal Amazon.com product mix and implement on the platform, seeking to innovate product mix to maximize profit and avoid channel conflict
  • Develop and execute promotional programs to create incremental revenue, analyze and optimize performance of discount / promotion offers (e.g. right level), suggest plans for improvements, and codify best practices to inform future promotional activities
  • Leverage analytical tools to identify key content needs (across keywords, titles and bullets), work with Digital Content Manager to drive content creation and ensure execution in Amazon.com platforms
  • Own (or work with agency to own) execution of content adjustments
  • Build strong cross functional relationships internally, define key needs from supporting organizations (e.g. IT, supply chain) to drive Amazon success, develop business cases for investments, and advocate for required change / resources
  • Develop strategy for Amazon marketing spend (across onsite and offsite), alongside brand marketing teams and leverage internal and external support to execute, track, and optimize these campaigns
  • Execute (or work with Agency to execute) onsite Amazon marketing campaigns
  • Track Amazon.com performance and campaign results to develop best practice playbooks

Job Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree is required. A Graduate Degree (Master’s or MBA) is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in managing Amazon.com accounts
  • Proven track record of success in building Amazon.com business through owning initiatives end-to-end, including defining objectives, project planning, resource allocation, KPI development, and implementation
  • Strong change management capabilities, ability to enlist the help of others without direct reporting lines
  • Strong communication skills – in particular, proven ability to communicate with a wide breadth of audiences: marketing, media, supply chain, technology partners, and agencies
  • Certification in, or extensive hands-on experience with direct experience with, key Ad Tech platforms relating to Amazon
  • Deep understanding of digital lead generation and brand building techniques using Search, Social and Programmatic (e.g. Targeting, content and creatives for programmatic and Social, SEO and SEM)
  • Data-fluency and demonstrated understanding of the adoption of technology and its impact to operating models and organizational structures
  • Exemplary project management skills, including ability to concisely advise on progress, roadblocks and success to drive project progress
  • Deep understanding and appreciation for achievement of Business goals and marketing objectives such as Revenue & Product Contribution, ROI and Trial, Retention and Loyalty

The successful candidate will be required to sign and execute a restricted covenant upon hire.
