Responsibilities
The Precision Medicine and Computational Biology Unit in Sanofi strives to generate scientific knowledge that translates into transformative therapies for patients with unmet medical needs. The unit is building the world-class multi-omics teams that are passionate to contribute to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for patients. The Metabolomics and Lipidomics team are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative Principal Scientist with expertise building advanced MALDI Mass Spec Bioimaging using the latest technologies to support biomarker profiling and mechanistic insights for the drug discovery projects. The role will focus on development of non-targeted imaging mass spectrometry-based workflows to deliver functional pharmacology mechanistic endpoints to projects. She/he will be responsible for the application and advancement of novel imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) to better understand the mechanisms of drug tissue disposition, pharmacology, and toxicology for the early drug discovery efforts and translational research. She/he will provide the strategic insight into programs and utilize leading edge MS instrumentation, custom imaging software tools, and pioneering IMS tissue quantification to help drive critical decisions in all therapeutic areas. She/he will be working in a fast-paced, and collaborative environment, with the opportunity to make a large impact to advance Sanofi’s portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for applying scientific expertise and judgement to initiate, design, direct and execute MALDI-imaging for biomarker profiling and quantification with variety of platforms.
Develop non-targeted IMS workflows to deliver functional pharmacology mechanistic endpoints for projects and enhance understanding of biological systems.
Work in partnership with the informatics teams to build data repositories and custom workflow to achieve streamlined identification of endogenous biological molecules and cellular pathways interpretation.
Work in partnership with project teams to understand project issues, provide input and report data to matrix teams, including close networking with the other imaging group across Sanofi.
Collaborate with metabolomics/lipidomics team for molecular identification strategies using tissue extracts to achieve accurate molecular assignment from MALDI imaging data.
Analyze, interpret and effectively present data to project teams. Deliver scientific reports and presentations internally or externally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in analytical, biochemistry or related fields with at least 5 years of experience with a focus on the drug discovery process.
Strong scientific background and experience with mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and/or lipidomics data acquisition and analysis
Good knowledge of scientific data analysis, graphing/visualization, and statistics is essential.
Extensive hand-on experience in Bruker TimsTOF instrument or other mass spec instruments is preferred.
Demonstrated productive track record of sustained, significant scientific contributions by publications, patents and presentations.
Excellent written and oral communication, collaboration with proven ability for working in a multi-disciplinary scientific team environment.
