Position Overview:

The Translational Sciences Group in Sanofi strives to generate scientific knowledge that translates into transformative therapies for patients with unmet medical needs.  Translational Sciences is building a world-class Bioinformatics & Genetics team that is passionate to contribute to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for patients.  Translational Sciences Proteomics & Metabolomics team is seeking highly motivated Lipidomics Scientist to join the multidisciplinary team to apply novel Metabolomics as well as Lipidomics approaches to various internal, external and  consortia studies.  Seeking a highly motivated Lipidomics Scientist to join Proteomics and metabolomics group Cambridge/Framingham, MA which is part of Translational Sciences in R&D. The successful candidate will utilize advanced bioanalytical tools with a focus on mass spectrometry and chromatography-based techniques to discovery biomarkers and manage lipid and other small molecule analysis. He/She will establish collaborations with TA projects and be responsible for LC-MS assay development, implementation, and data analysis, to enable critical data generated based on projects need.  This exciting role will afford talented scientist the opportunity to translate their data-integration and analytical abilities into novel actionable hypotheses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform targeted mass spectrometry-based assays and studies focused on lipid analysis of diverse samples from the biological matrices.

  • Run untargeted/targeted approaches to Identify biomarkers for screening or efficacy assessment.

  • Collaborate with group members and cross-functional teams to support biomarker analysis, target identification, treatment efficacy evaluation, and MOA studies.

  • Evaluate and develop new technologies to streamline and improve the efficiency of the workflows and to solve problems encountered during assay development.

  • Author technical reports, study protocols and manuscripts for publication; present at internal and external meetings and conferences.

  • LC-MS assay development, implementation, optimization and routine maintenance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline, or a master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience, or a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of industry experience.

  • Strong track record of independent and in-depth mass spectrometry characterization and quantitation of small molecules and lipids.

  • Highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment and demonstrate attention to detail and record-keeping.

  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in working in matrixed environment or as member of small team of PhD and MS level scientist to contribute to drug discovery and development programs

  • An impactful publication track record that clearly articulates scientific contributions in the field of genetics and computational biology

  • Experience in lipid analysis and lipidomics is desired.

  • Industry experience.

  • Comprehensive understanding of lipid biochemistry in the areas of systems biology, neurodegeneration, immunology & inflammation and cancer is a plus.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills.

  • Self-driven and ability to well in interdisciplinary teams.

  • Experienced in communicating genetics insights and presenting concepts to a diverse audience.
